WOMEN MUST HELP WOMEN

Empowering Women To Start An Online Business

WHO WE ARE?

We are a group of Mumpreneurs from all walks of life running our online business.  Our vision is to empower women to start their online business successfully.

our activities

How it all started?

Sometime in January of 2017, a few of us, from different walks of life came together to start a community that believed in creating financial independence by running our online business.

We knew that running our own online business would not be easy as most of us were either stay-at-home Mums or working Mums and didn’t have any experience running a business.

But, we knew that online businesses would give us more flexibility and allow us to work from anywhere we wanted and have the ability to create income for ourselves and our families.

WHY DID WE DECIDE TO WRITE A BOOK?

On 5th May 2019, 6 women sat down in a café for breakfast in Athens, Greece and talked about writing a book and how all committed to finish their stories in one month!

From 6 courageous women who had never written a book before or shared their stories in public, the community grew to 14 women, armed with a mission and a seemingly impossible timeline.

These women set out to write about the darkest moments in their lives, not because they wanted to get sympathy or empathy for themselves but because they wanted to give hope to people who were going through the same tunnel themselves and were not able to see the end of that tunnel.

This book that you will hold in your hands is a result of that labour of love.

For every sale of the e-book, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Janet Wong is a loving mum to her three children aged 25, 27 & 29 at the time of writing. She attributes her strength to the love and example of her Hakka mother, a strong woman who had worked hard to support the family before she was hit by a car at age 53, in an accident that rendered her bedridden for more than 30 years before passing on at age 85.

Janet chose to give up her accounting job of 16 years so that she could take care of her children. Instead, she started working from home in financial services to supplement her husband’s income and support her mother’s expenses at a  nursing home. She has no regrets, as she got to enjoy her children’s growing up years, going through all their phases – sweet, sour, spicy and salty, just like the dishes she loves to cook.

Janet takes delight in cooking delicious food for her appreciative family and some lucky friends, who lovingly call her kitchen “Janet’s Café”. Wholesome and tasty, her traditional specialties pay tribute to her Hakka heritage.

A resourceful mum, she is very handy at home, having taken on roles as a plumber, electrician, painter and washing machine repairman especially in the past, to save every cent so that her children could go for enrichment courses.

Fran Chua, is a full-time working mum with two active boys. She is loaded with housework which she has to juggle daily after work. She feels that she has led an unsatisfying and very average life that got caught up in the typical ‘rat-race’ cycle. She is still working on ways to get out of it.

By a happy coincidence, she met with a community of ladies. From strangers coming from different backgrounds, they became friends. They now meet frequently to do the things they like. And also travel together once in a while on weekends to get some break from the kids.

Fran feels that nothing else can produce the highs and the lows – the joys or heartbreaks – that motherhood allows. There are wonderful days when she feels her life is overflowing with goodness. There are also days when she wants to run away and question every decision she had ever made. But whether feeling good or bad, it all gives her life purpose. She says motherhood is walking around with all of your nerve endings raw and exposed. Time is precious, life is fragile, and so she wishes to spend as much time as possible with her loved ones.

In whatever little free time she has, she loves watching Korean dramas. It can help her chase away all her troubles, especially when looking at those handsome oppa.

Grace Wilton is a 5-foot-nothing Malaysian-born expat wife living in Singapore, married to a 6-foot-4-inch man from Cornwall, UK, who claims to have Viking blood!  They sailed the world together for six years and Grace worked as a professional yacht chef cooking up haute cuisine for high net worth individuals who chartered their yacht for exotic holidays. She did so much cooking under challenging high seas conditions that she grew to hate it – so much so that she has since dumped her toque blanche and now finds every reason not to cook anymore.

Besides overcoming depression, Grace’s greatest achievement has been to conquer her huge fear of heights by paragliding solo for more than 20 times in her attempt to get a pilot’s licence. She also overcame claustrophobia by qualifying as an advanced Scuba diver, diving in the dark of night in open seas.

Grace has a fur baby, a dog named Paxo who is smarter than most humans and is the apple of her eye.  She is a durian fanatic even though she is on one of the strictest diets known to man – the ketogenic diet.

Huang Ling is an entrepreneur, business coach and lifelong learner, as well as an artist, dancer and international interior designer. Her aim is to be a woman of influence in Asia and an international speaker one day, to help women.

A self-confessed workaholic, she sees herself as the work-hard, play-hard type. She believes in maximizing her time with detailed planning, fitting in daily tasks as well as scheduling her work and travels, up to three months ahead – and she reviews her priorities often! Regular exercise is one of the priorities she wants to find room for in her busy lifestyle.

Ling believes in investing in herself and is constantly upgrading her skills and knowledge. She spends some time every day reading to improve her professionalism and learn more about things that interest her. She loves to travel, especially to rural and cultural places, and interact and network with different people.

Her daughter, Jing Jing, is undoubtedly the centre of her world. Ling loves taking her out to play or go sightseeing. She says Jing Jing is a lot like her, always eager to go out and explore the world.

Despite her busy schedule, Ling looks forward to her “Me Time” the most. She makes time to visit the theatre once a month, and enjoy her favourite wine and a good dinner. Sometimes she simply likes to rest at home, cooking a nice dinner for her family. She loves to eat and try out new recipes from different cuisines.

Rebecca Ong’s friends look upon her as a dedicated mother and supportive wife. She used to be a stay-at-home mum who lived in her own world inside a “Golden Box”, which her husband, Eugene, called a “Rusty Box”, as no matter what “keys” he tried to use to get her out of that box, he failed until this crisis happened.

Over these two years, she has been an inspiration to many women and now her greatest joy is to travel around to help empower women to start their own online business –  something that she never thought she’d ever do

Cancer survivor Dilynn Ho has learned that life is precious. She is mother to two beautiful daughters, now aged 4 and 6 at the time of writing. They are her greatest joy and she looks forward to seeing them grow up. Although she was declared disease-free by the end of 2017, Dilynn feels her energy is still not up to the level she used to have previously. She is still building up her strength so that she can go back to the sports she loves – diving and hockey. A determined person, she believes she will achieve this goal. To this end, she pushes herself to swim 10 to 20 laps once a week.

In her spare time, she loves to bake cakes, which are much enjoyed by her family and friends. Surviving cancer has strengthened her faith in God, and she enjoys singing in her church choir.

Dilynn feels she is a much more relaxed person than before. Formerly a self-confessed perfectionist, she has learned to be more accepting of imperfections in herself and others.  Realising that many things in life are beyond her control, she takes care not to let stress build up again in her life to the point when it affects her health.

Rachel Ang has been a realtor for 16 years. She runs a boutique real estate agency and manages the property portfolios of a pool of international and local investors, helping them to buy, sell and lease their properties in Singapore.

Her zest for continuous learning has led her to attend workshops by prominent business and personal development gurus. Some highlights include doing the Fire Walk twice in Tony Robbin’s “Unleash The Power Within” program, and achieving a personal breakthrough with “Money and You”.

Rachel enjoys challenging herself, pushing herself to complete several 10 km runs, despite her asthma condition. She loves karaoke singing, drawing and painting.

She started developing her public speaking skills as a Toastmasters member.

An introvert, she has overcome her fear of speaking in front of an audience, and now enjoys conducting workshops for her e-commerce business.

Besides loving art and design, Mell Lee yearns to keep pushing her boundaries and elevate her skills. She envisions herself expanding her portfolio as a public speaker and trainer. At the moment, her life pretty much revolves around her two sons. Her other passions are cooking and eating. Her favourite cuisines are Thai and Peranakan and she attributes her love for spicy and tangy food to her Peranakan heritage.

Mell spends her little pockets of free time watching cooking videos and reading motivational books. She dreams that someday when she has achieved time freedom, she would be able to learn to make pottery, play a musical instrument, ride a horse, and start a cooking channel featuring herself. Her ideal charity would be to run a soup kitchen to feed anyone who is looking for a warm meal.

Juliana Wong was known to be a very sporty, cheerful, helpful and positive girl since young. Despite any challenges she might be facing, she always puts on her cheery smile in front of her friends and family. She is always ready to extend help whenever someone needs it. She loves sports and would always try her best.

There was once she participated in her secondary school marathon and halfway during the run she fell and dislocated her ankle. But thinking it was just a sprain, she continued to run despite the pain. She finished the marathon, winning a 10th place medal. However, she was on crutches for a good two months after that! To most people, it may not have been worth it, but to her, it was simply a display of the sporting spirit that defined her, and it was all worth it.

In her polytechnic years, she took up taekwondo and earned her black belt as well as several medals in competitions. It is this kind of determination and positive mindset that has made her a strong woman today.

Sharon Low loves being a mother. She says that motherhood is one of the greatest joys in life, although it is also one of the most challenging experiences one could possibly face. She says, “Being a stay-at-home mom of four is no joke. And it doesn’t come with any cool badges!” Sharon loves her kids – all four of them by now. “And no matter how many times my love is divided, it is still whole. Everyone gets the same love, and I love everyone for the person they are, as individuals, not whom I expect them to be.”

Sharon is proud of many things in life but to her, nothing beats being a mother. At times she’s a worried mom, but do not doubt her skills, when it comes to her children’s health, she does better research than a private investigator!

Life has given Sharon many challenges, but she has somehow always managed to get through them, thanks to her attitude that: “Life is one big web – you can’t have the good without the bad; you need to somehow learn to accept the bad and adjust to it in a way that you can endure and overcome it.”
